So there’s this…
Jim Van Eerden has come up with a resource that he says will give conservative parents a chance to counteract any liberal indoctrination of their children before it happens. His plan would let parents deposit tuition money into a “scholarship” that would go to a child’s college only after the student had passed one or more short online courses offering a “more balanced” take on various issues.
Mr. Van Eerden offers these courses for free through his new nonprofit organization FreeThinkU.
But let me understand:
— You don’t even have to go to college if you don’t want to. Girls, especially: it’s been proven that women who attend college become noticeably uglier and more brittle over time.
— If you don want to and are the Christian/Conservative persuasion, there are many conservative colleges in America, like Liberty University or any of the ones on this list of “Top Conservative Colleges,” that would mesh well with your beliefs.
— If you’re conservative and still want to go to college and don’t want to attend some kind of half-rate university like those listed above and insist on attending Harvard or something, I’d like to learn who thinks their son or daughter is going to take on this extra coursework in addition to their regular study schedule and a social calendar consisting of keg parties hazing rituals sports events babymaking Bible study.
— If you’re conservative and still want to go to college and don’t want to attend some kind of half-rate university like those listed above and insist on attending Harvard or something but apparently don’t want to pay attention in class, perhaps you could do everyone a favor and just don’t bother?
I find it terrifically interesting that there is no longer any room for conservative thought in everyday hegemonic American society to the extent that its supporters want to voluntarily set up separate but equal systems — their own colleges, their own college rankings, their own crazy political figures, etc. that you’ve probably never heard of — because … freedom?
